King Arthur Flour: Scone Recipe

Oh my GOD this recipe is probably the best one I have for scones. I made this recipe for people at my work, my mom, and my husband's co-workers and it got rave reviews. Follow the directions closely. They give very good instructions.

Also, since you're baking you need to measure out your ingredients exactly as they are written in the recipe. No it won't kill your dough if you have a little extra flour knock off the side of the measuring cup, but it will be thrown off if you don't level your dry ingredients with a knife.

I will be filming this recipe the next time I make it so that you can see how it's done. Check out other fantastic recipes on their web site: www.kingarthurflour.com

Epic Food Fail: The Great Custard Fiasco

Everyone makes mistakes. This one was a colossal mistake, made by yours truly. Yes, even I have my epic fail days and this was one of them.

I had a yen for custard, that eggy, creamy, English custard that’s just so rich and good. So I decided to make it myself, since I couldn’t find it in the supermarket. I got the eggs, milk and sugar needed to make the custard. I also found a recipe for it in the Jacques Pepin Complete Techniques book. I followed the recipe very closely. Yeah….

S'mores: Everyone Want'S'more

Who says you need a campfire to make a decent s’more? I just made them last night in my oven. That’s right. No foraging for sticks and twigs, straight from the broiler, lovely melty s’mores. And after trying out this recipe you and I will have to meet up so we can run our fat asses off. Stay tuned for the sister site of U Can’t Cook – U Can’t Eat (That Anymore).

The Sweet Spot #1: Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Ah yes, the icon of Valentine's Day. Listen people, I've been eating these since way before some yuppie mid 90's throw back thought, “Hey we can market this to people for Valentine's Day!” It all started in Callie's Candy Kitchen in Mountainhome Pennsylvania way back when I was a little itty-bitty pain in the neck and not the super duper trouble maker and wise ass you see today. This man puts chocolate on EVERYTHING! Strawberries, potato chips, cream cheese and before you go “Eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, who puts chocolate on cream cheese?” think about what cheese cake, chocolate cheese cake at that, is made of. .......Thank you.

You can make these at anytime and you don't have to pay through the nose to get them. The most expensive item is the strawberries and as you know around V-Day the price goes through the roof. There are two methods to doing this: the dip and the drown. If you dip, only part of the berry gets coated with chocolate, leaving the tops plain. If you drown, the entire berry is rolled or submerged in chocolate, leaving you guessing which way was up. Both methods are sound, it just depends on what kind of look you want: presentable or shut up and eat. I like the latter but I will show you the former.
